Netvibes
Netvibes is a web-based portal/home page where you can feed news, blog updates, flickr, bookmarks, notes, to do lists, calendars, email, weather, and storage sites. Excellent mashup of cool stuff that you can access from any computer just by signing in. Useable with many of the other web tools I am going to talk about here, such as Box.net, Del.icio.us, Google, Gmail, Yahoo, Flickr, etc.
Tool Categories: Organization/Info-sharing/Research
Audience: Educators/Librarians/Students
How It Works: You select the news/blog/weather/email/calendar/photo feeds you want to subscribe to.The feeds are automatically sent to Netvibes, which organizes your updated headlines and information onto ONE page for reading.
Uses: Aggregates a number of different resources onto one page: including a link to Box.net online storage, Flickr, news, weather, bookmarks, blogs, email, etc.
Why Use It? Saves you time in that you don’t have to visit every site: all your info is on one page. Web-based: you can access from any computer with Internet access.
Student Use: Students can use it as a class link page, collaborative tool for note sharing, use it to organize a project together, upload files or keep track of daily news and weather.
